Happy International Yoga Day 2021!

Today marks the 7th International Day of Yoga since its inception on June 21st, 2015, upon adoption by the United Nations General Assembly. International Yoga Day is celebrated around the world every year on June 21st, the summer solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, which is the day of greatest light in the year. It is on that day, according to ancient Indian lore that Shiva, the ādiyogācārya, or first teacher of Yoga, first taught the science of Yoga to his original students.

On this day we celebrate the international treasure of Yoga, which is not just a regime of physical postures and exercises, but a diverse system of self-development and self-perfection leading to mental and emotional peace and spiritual upliftment. Yoga has many positive benefits for the whole world to enjoy!

Curious about the practice of Yoga and its many benefits? Please check out our recent blog post The Benefits of Hatha Yoga which introduces Yoga and touches on the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of regular Yoga practice, as well as how to get started.
