Rajnikant J. Mehta, 73 years of age, is a retired shipowners' consultant residing in London. A post-graduate in Economics and Advanced Politics, he has lived in India, Africa, Singapore, Burma and Pakistan, as well as in England. He has been a columnist for the Gujarat Samachar, London and the Bombay Samachar, Mumbai, and continues to be associated with these newspapers in an honorary capacity. He has also been a writer for other newspapers, journals and television, and is the author of five books on various subjects: Life - An Adventure, Uncharted Oceans, Saga of Indians Abroad, Life in Britain and From the Banks of the Thames. Mr. Mehta has helped to set up rural schools for needy children in Panchagani and surrounding areas in Maharashtra and is involved in several cultural organisations in London. He is a lover of Western and Indian classical music. A devotee of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother, he has been closely connected with the Auromira Relics Centre in London for many years.
